Gather Your Information
Gathering your information will allow us to look at the big picture of your experiences. These exercises are designed to pull together as much information about yourself to assist you in creating an effective resume, but not all the information we will identify in this section will make it onto your resume. So rest assured, while stepping through this process, don't concern yourself with questions like 'what information should be on your resume'. In short, write down all your experience, education, and general information now. In the next section we will determine what is reliant for your resume and what is not. For now, just have fun remembering those things you've accomplished.
Now the task of gathering up all of your relevant information can be daunting, but with the right approach and a few tips on how to proceed, anyone can create an effective resume.
This process begins with a self evaluation of your skills, education, and employment experience and structuring the resume format around your strengths. The key is to break down each section of your resume into several specific groups of information, but first we need to gather the information, so let’s get started.
There are three sections we will compile all your information into. Each section will prompt you for information, so be as specific but direct as you can be. This process may take several hours or even days to fully gather all your information, so don’t try to finish this in one quick glance. Our goal here is to create an effective resume, and putting in a little time at this stage can make all the difference in getting that job you deserve.
To aid you in this process, an online worksheet has been provided for you.
